CARLSBAD, N.M. – EM’s Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) almost doubled its solid waste reduction rate from 15.5 percent in fiscal year 2012 to 33 percent in fiscal year 2013 through programs that diverted WIPP’s wood waste from the municipal landfill by reusing, repurposing or recycling.
EM’s Carlsbad Field Office (CBFO) participated in the second meeting of the Nuclear Energy Agency’s (NEA) Salt Club and the 4th U.S.-German Workshop on Salt Repository Research, Design & Operation in Berlin.

Through the Solar*Rewards program, Xcel Energy is purchasing renewable energy credits (RECs) from customers in New Mexico who install photovoltaic (PV) systems. The RECs that Xcel purchases will help the utility comply with New Mexico's [http://www.dsireusa.org/library/includes/incentive2.cfm?Incentive_Code=N... renewable portfolio standard] (RPS), and provide a financial incentive for homeowners and businesses to install PV systems.
Xcel's Residential Program provides incentives to install energy efficiency measures in homes and small businesses in Xcel service territory. Rebates are available for evaporative cooling systems, refrigerator recycling, LED light bulbs, and CFL light bulbs. All equipment must meet program requirements. Xcel Energy offers a variety of incentives to commercial and industrial customers in the New Mexico service territory. Rebates are available for central air conditioning systems, heat pumps, rooftop units, chillers, room controls, lighting measures, lighting controls, pumps, motors, variable speed drives and EC motors. Additionally, custom rebates and in-depth energy studies are available through Xcel Energy's program. Custom rebates are worth up to $400/kW saved and efficiency studies for large commercial and industrial customers can cover up to 75% of the study cost.
This act establishes the Water Quality Control Commission and states the powers and duties of the commission. Rules are stated for adoption of regulations and standards and information is provided about permits, construction limitations and penalties.
The commission is the state water pollution control agency for New Mexico for all purposes of the federal Clean Water Act and the wellhead protection and sole source aquifer programs of the federal Safe Drinking Water Act.
